Nail Tech Growth Lab — Episode 4: How to Film a Nail Printer Video That Actually Gets Saves
Jump to a section

Most nail print videos get watched once. Saved zero times. Here's how to film one that earns saves — and why saves matter more than views for a salon owner's bottom line.

This is the show-notes companion to Episode 4 of Nail Tech Growth Lab. Listen (6 min) below.

    The 3-shot framework

    1. BEFORE. The empty nail. The cleaned-up base gel. The client's hand on a towel. ~3 sec. The point is contrast.
    2. SECRET. The thing the viewer doesn't expect. The printer head moving. The cartridge clicking in. The angle that says “I'm about to do something you haven't seen in person.”
    3. REVEAL. Hands lifted, all 10 nails, slow rotation. This is the moment that gets saved.

Music starts on the SECRET, peaks on the REVEAL. Total length 12–15 seconds.

5 tactical fixes most nail techs miss

    1. Phone on tripod. Never handheld. Wobble kills saves.
    2. Side light, not behind. Light source on the SAME side as the lens — the design pops. Behind = silhouette.
    3. Table-height reveal, not bird's-eye. We've all seen the overhead shot. Eye-level reads new.
    4. Cut every dead second. If 2 seconds pass without something changing — cut it.
    5. End on the design, not the logo. Brand assets live in the caption. The video earns the save with the design.

Why saves beat views (the business angle)

Views are a “wow, neat.” A save is a buying signal. She's going back to look at it before she books. Saves over a rolling 90 days correlate with new client bookings more reliably than view counts do.

Filming this way isn't just art direction. It's lead generation. And it's free.
