Why most “V11 vs X12.5” buyer guides are useless
They list specs. Print resolution. Tank capacity. Wi-Fi vs tethered. None of that answers the question you're actually asking — which one fits how my salon works?
Three filters decide it. Not five. Not ten. Three.
Filter 1 — Prints per day
How many nail-print services per day, three months in?
- Under 5 prints/day: V11. $2,999 outright. $199/mo rent-to-own.
- Over 10 prints/day: X12.5. $5,999. Higher throughput plus a 10.1" design library built into the machine.
Filter 2 — Staff training
How many people will use it?
- V11: If you can use Canva, you can use the V11. One person, 2 days, fully confident.
- X12.5: Same intuitive interface, but ships with bundled staff training and 90-day onboarding. For multi-tech salons, that's real value baked into the price gap.
Filter 3 — Visibility
Where does the machine live?

Most salons should start with V11 — under 5 prints/day, 1–2 technicians, machine doesn't need to be visible. That's roughly 80% of the salon owners we talk to.
X12.5 from day one — over 10 prints/day, 3+ technicians, or the machine becomes part of the in-chair experience. About 20%.
If you're between, V11 plus a careful menu test (see E002) is the lower-risk path. Upgrading to the X12.5 later is easy if demand outgrows the V11.
